Applications are considered individually. Places are limited and submitting an application does not guarantee a subsidised session.

Who can apply?

The programme is intended for emerging artists, musicians and creative projects that would benefit from professional recording but face financial or other barriers to accessing it.

How we select participants

We aim to keep the process simple, fair and proportionate. Applications are considered using the following factors:

  • Financial or access barriers to professional recording
  • How useful the recording session would be at this stage of the applicant's project
  • Whether the applicant has material ready to record
  • Our ability to provide the right support within the available session time
  • Priority for people with a connection to East London

Evidence

We may ask for simple evidence of financial need where appropriate. This could include Universal Credit or another means-tested benefit, low-income evidence, or a brief explanation of circumstances that make professional recording difficult to afford. We do not want unnecessary paperwork to become another barrier.

What happens next?

Selected applicants will be contacted to discuss their music, what they want to achieve and whether the session is suitable. We will then agree the session length, contribution and recording date before the booking is confirmed.

Subsidised Recording Sessions

Tell us briefly about you, your music and what you would like to record. Short, clear answers are completely fine.

Thank you — your application has been received.
East End Music Room CIC will review it and contact you using the email address you provided.

How your application is considered

We review applications consistently against the programme criteria: financial or access barriers, whether the material is ready enough to benefit from the session, the practical benefit the recording could provide, and connection to East London.

We are not judging whether your music is commercially successful or whether it fits a particular genre. The purpose of the programme is to improve access to professional recording.

If you are selected, we will contact you to confirm the proposed session, contribution and date. We may ask for simple supporting evidence where appropriate.

We use this information to assess your application and contact you about the programme. Please do not send sensitive documents through this form. Read our Privacy Notice.

Your application will be sent securely to East End Music Room CIC. Please keep a copy of anything you may need for your own records.

Questions

How the programme works.

We want the application process to be straightforward. You do not need industry contacts, a polished biography or a commercially successful track record to apply.

Who can apply?

Emerging artists, musicians and creative projects that would benefit from professional recording but face financial or other barriers to accessing it. A connection to East London may be prioritised.

How much does a subsidised session cost?

Selected participants receive a 50% subsidy on the agreed recording session. We confirm the session length, normal value, your contribution and the CIC subsidy before booking.

Do I have to receive Universal Credit?

No. Universal Credit or another means-tested benefit can be one way of showing financial need, but it is not required. We can also consider low income or other financial or access circumstances.

What happens after I apply?

We review your application and contact you by email. If selected, we discuss your recording plans and agree the session length, contribution and date before booking.
